Our History

The Vermont Bread Company was founded in a small country barn on a dirt road in 1978.  We began as an “all-natural” cookie company called Innisfree Farm Bakery and in 1980 we began baking bread for the local farmer’s market and natural food store.

Today, we have a much larger facility and although we no longer make cookies, we do produce a full line of breads, English muffins and rolls.  Our commitment to using high quality and certified organic ingredients remains the same today as it did over 30 years ago.

Baked fresh from scratch, using stone ground whole grain flours and honest-to–goodness ingredients, Vermont Breads give you the great taste and wholesome natural nutrition you love, without those things you don’t want such as chemical additives, artificial ingredients, white sugar, irradiated ingredients, excess salt and cholesterol.

All of our breads are made with care from traditional recipes and a love for baking.  Available in most supermarkets & health food stores, you can enjoy the authentic taste of Vermont Bread—the kind of breads you only used to find at local farm stands and country stores throughout the Northeast.

We are proud of our products and believe we offer some of the best baked goods you can buy.  In Vermont, fresh homemade bread has always been the favorite gift to give a friend and neighbor.  In that spirit, we offer you Vermont Bread.
